Pioneer CPT300
The Pioneer CPT300 is our flagship seabed CPT rig, engineered to redefine offshore ground investigations. As the world’s most powerful system in its class, it is capable of pushing at forces over 300 kN and can perform a fully continuous at speeds up to 60 mm/sec when pushing with 200 kN force.
By balancing cutting-edge technology with unmatched serviceability, the Pioneer sets a new benchmark for subsea CPT operations in challenging environments and ensures deep penetration and superior production capacity.
The worlds most powerful Seabed CPT rig
Gemini Continuous DualCPT Pusher
At the heart of the Pioneer is the proprietary Gemini DualCPT pusher system. This innovative technology allows for the continuous pushing of CPT cones, modules such as seismic, and large-diameter casing at 60 mm/s while maintaining a full 200 kN force.
For projects requiring extreme force, the dual pushers work in unison to achieve an unrivaled 300 kN pushing capacity, making it the most capable CPT system on the market today in it’s standard configuration.
Maintenance-Friendly Geotechnical Subframe
Avoid costly port calls. The Pioneer is built around an innovative subframe designed for maximum uptime and ease of service. By removing a series of locking bolts, the outer shell can be lifted using the integrated hoist frame, leaving all major components fully accessible.
This “open-access” engineering makes servicing and replacing modules as straightforward as possible, even in demanding offshore schedules, maximising uptime and production.
Modular Architecture for Project Flexibility
Our modular design ensures a future-proof system that adapts to your specific project needs. Add-ons such as subsea cable reels, deck transformers, HD cameras, and seismic CPT sources can be integrated seamlessly.
This modularity also allows the machine to be ballasted from a dry weight of 5 tonnes up to 37 tonnes, providing incredible flexibility for different vessels and soil conditions.
Ergonomic Deepwater Control Systems
Operating at depths of up to 2000 m requires precision. The Pioneer’s control panel combines ease of operation with detailed feedback and program flexibility. The system features an inbuilt display for a live view of all subsea systems, including cone data, machine data, and HD camera feeds, ensuring operators have the real-time data needed for effective offshore site characterization.
Cutting-Edge Digital CPT & ISO 22476-1:2022 Compliance
Acquiring high-quality CPT data relies on a robust supply of highly calibrated CPT cones. Partnering with Royal Eijkelkamp, a company with more than 80 years of experience as a leading supplier of geotechnical equipment, Subsea provides its customers with the most advanced and future-proof digital CPT system on the market.
Eijkelkamp’s CPT system boasts an extensive range of add-on modules, including seismic CPT and HD video capture and all cones are calibrated to the latest ISO 22476-1:2022 standards.

Frequently Asked Questions | Pioneer CPT300
The Pioneer CPT300 is the world’s most powerful seabed CPT rig. In it’s standard configuration it is capable of a 300 kN push when the Gemini dual pushers work in unison. The Pioneer also delivers a continuous push force of 200 kN at speeds up to 60 mm/s for high production rates.
Yes. All geotechnical data acquired by the Pioneer CPT300 is fully compliant with the latest ISO 22476-1 standards. Our partnership with Royal Eijkelkamp ensures that all digital CPT cones and sensors are calibrated to the highest industry requirements for offshore site characterization.
The Pioneer CPT300 is engineered for deepwater operations and can be deployed at depths of up to 2000 meters in its standard configuration with a deep water upgrade for depths up to 3000 m. Its robust design and intelligent control systems ensure data integrity and operational reliability even in extreme subsea environments.
Absolutely. Due to its modular design, the Pioneer can be equipped with various add-ons, including our unique push in seismic CPT (SCPT) source, HD video capture, and subsea cable reels. This allows for a comprehensive geotechnical investigation in a single deployment.
The Pioneer has a unique push in Seismic source. The source is advanced into more competent materials ensuring a strong seismic wave is transmitted through the soil. This is far superior to hydraulic hammer based sources that tend to have their wave energy dissipated in the soft seabed materials rather than transmitted into the soil.
The Pioneer can be equipped with the modular seabed sampler which allows the recovery of a sample outside of the footprint of the unit for a less disturbed seabed sample at the same time as undertaking a CPT.
For deeper samples a range of Royal Eijkelkamp sampling equipment can be advanced by the Gemini DualCPT pusher due to its multiple clamps and 90 mm clamping diameter.
The Pioneer is able to deploy casing behind the cone during a CPT push through the soft marine deposits. Once underlying hard soils are reached the integrated casing clamp holds the casing in place providing support to the CPT tubes in the soft materials. This allows the full force of the Pioneer to be used to advance the CPT in the hard soils without breaking the tubes.
The Pioneer is powered purely by electric supply. First to the included power panel and then over the umbilical to the hydraulic powerpack mounted on the unit itself. The unit requires a supply of 400/440 VAC, 63 A, 50/60 Hz from the vessel.
The Pioneer’s modular architecture allows for incredible project flexibility. It can be ballasted from a dry weight of just 5 tonnes up to 37 tonnes. This wide range makes it possible to deploy the rig from various types of vessels, from small nearshore boats to large offshore construction vessels.
Yes, Subsea Geo Tools provides a full turnkey geotechnical package. This includes the Pioneer seabed unit, constant tension winches for umbilical handling, climate-controlled operation centres, and on-site technical support for commissioning and training.
